Melissa Collins has always been a book worm. Studying Literature in college ensured that her nose was always stuck in a book. She followed her passion for reading to the most logical career choice: English teacher. Her hope was to share her passion for reading and the escapism of books to her students. Having spent more than a decade in front of a classroom, she can easily say that it's been a dream.

Her passion for writing didn't start until more recently. When she was home on maternity leave in early 2012, she read her first romance novel and her head filled with the passion, angst and laughter of the characters who she read about it. It wasn't long before characters of her own took shape in her mind. Their lives took over Melissa's brain and The Love Series was born.

©     Do you have any unique talents or hobbies?  

~ Talents? Some days staying awake is a talent in my life. Sadly, my hobbies are fairly stereotypical of an author: I read and write. 

©     Tell us 1 thing about yourself that most people do not know?

~ I have a huge fascination with stars and planets and all that stuff. I could watch shows on the cosmos or the science channel all the time. 

©     Do you recall how your interest in writing originated?

~ I have a degree in English Lit, so I’ve always enjoyed (actually, more than enjoyed) reading and writing. My interest in writing fiction is one that developed much more recently. 

©     What inspired you to write your first book?

~ I know it sounds a little cliché, but I just had a story in my head. Maddy and Reid were there and their story was coming to life and the only way to get it out of my head was to put it on paper. 

©     Name one entity that you feel supported you outside of family members?

~Even though I only know her virtually (for the most part), Carey Heywood has been a huge non-family supporter and I just love her so much for always being there for me. 

©     Hardest scene you have ever written?

~I think the prologue from Let Love Heal was the most difficult. For those of you who have read it, you know why. It had to happen, but it tore me to pieces to write those words. There are also a few chapters in the beginning of Let Love Be (Lucy’s book) that were especially difficult to write for the same reason. 

©     What gives you the most inspiration?

~ Real life. I’d like to think that my characters are very real and that’s because I just take bits and pieces of my real life and put them in there. I also get a lot of inspiration from listening to music. 

©     Give us an interesting fun fact or a few about your book or series:

~Most of the names from the series are either names of family members or friends and if they’re not, I get them from baby names lists. 

©     What are your current projects?

~I just finished Let Love Be (Momma / Lucy’s book). After that, I think I’d like to take a short break from the series and write a standalone. I’m currently working on one called Learning Curves. 

©     Will you have a new book coming out soon?

~ Let Love Be will be out in early April and if things go according to plan, I’d love to have Learning Curves out sometime this summer. 

©     Can you tell us about your upcoming book?

~Let Love Be follows Lucy (or as series fans know her, Momma) as she finds love again after losing her husband 18 years ago. It really was just some random strokes on the keyboard that brought Evan to life so it was really interesting to actually write their entire story. 

©     What can readers who enjoy your book do to help make it successful?

~ Please tell people about it! Word of mouth is the single most powerful tool out there. You could also write a review - it doesn’t need to be a novel in and of itself. A simple 20 words are all you need to help tell someone else how much you loved the book. 

©     Is there anything that you would like to say to your readers and fans?

~Thank you! I never thought this would be my life. I never thought I’d sell this many books or have this many fans. It’s truly amazing and it all happened because you read my words.

My Thoughts

Jacelyn I have loved to watch you grow as a writer. This is an amazing story and I am so invested in these people and their lives. I stopped reading so many times because I wanted to jump in the story and shack a few people or I was just to emotion to continue. Fate has a way of sneaking up on you and sometimes knock you down or making memories that will last a life time. I believe that Will and Sarah are soul mates I just wish that Margret (UGH) would just drop off the face of the earth or crawl back under a rock. I am so looking forward to the next step in their journey and also yours. This is a must Read Series 5 star is just not enough. Jacelyn you are a Rock Star.......

Danielle has done it again. I laughed and cried a lot. Piper has been thru so much in her life.  She deserves her Happy Ever After. But before that can happen she is heading to New York to find her father. Hopefully her journey will change her fate and reunited her and Bobby.

Bobby has molded his life around something that happened when he was a kid. Now he is questioning that decision and the only way to find the answer is to talk to everyone that was involved. Q. What inspires your writing?

A. So many things. Art, a photograph, a portrait, poetry, movies, songs, books, historical events, notable people, a friend, a colleague...and the list is never-ending.

Q. Why do you like to write historicals?

A. I guess mostly because of the nostalgia of the past. It is an escape for me to think in a world where communication existed only in real face-to-face time or in a letter. Social graces were not only an art, but a survival skill. Interaction with another person was downright intimate in a way it can never be today. I also find great joy in writing my stories. It is as entertaining to write them as it is to be lost in a book you can't set down.

Q. What is your favorite quote?

A. "I almost wish we were butterflies, and liv'd but three summer days. Three such days with you I could fill with more delight than fifty common years could ever contain." JOHN KEATS...1819 (sigh) Need I elaborate?

Q. How do you plot out your stories?

A. I picture the scenes like a movie in my mind. I go on long walks with my ipod and just process through storylines in my head. As soon as I get home I run up to my computer and jot down my ideas so I don't forget. I've worked through many a troublesome plotline while on a walk. Solitude works for me.

Q. Who are some of your favorite authors?

A. JR Ward, Megan Hart, Elizabeth Hoyt, Ken Follett, John Grisham, Charles Dickens, Jane Austen, John Keats, Robert Herrick...What I wouldn't give to have all of those writers together in a room.

Q. What has becoming a writer taught you?

A. A healthy respect. That's: R - E - S - P - E - C - T! I am humbled by anyone who wrote before the word processor and Google were invented. There's no denying that writing is hard work, but to imagine how Jane Austen wrote Pride and Prejudice with a feather quill pen makes my brain hurt.

Q. Any pearls of wisdom for aspiring writers?

A. Write what you love--your voice will come through. Write every day--your creative mind needs exercise. Never give up your dream of becoming a writer. Everyone loves a good story and if you can write one, people will always want to read it.

My Thoughts

I met this amazing Author at Rock The Holidays in Anaheim, California and I purchased this book and she signed it. Which is awesome.... This series is a must read... I love Brynne & Ethan.  They meet in London and Ethan fall hard for her. Ethan is British and hotter than sin. Together they are explosive in every way. Brynne is Ethan soul mate he just need to get past the walls she has built and he works is ass off to gain her trust and her love. Both have scares from the past but they both go all in and what a ride.

I didn't begin writing until after undergraduate college. There'd been storylines and characters in my head all my life, but it came to a boiling point one day and I HAD to get them out of me. So the computer was booted up and I FINALLY felt it click. Writing is what I needed to do. After that, I had to teach myself how to write. I can't blame my teachers for not teaching me all those years in school. It was my fault. I was one of the students that was wishing I was anywhere but at school! So after that day, it took me lots of work until I was able to put together something that resembled a novel. I'm hoping I got it right since someone must be reading this profile! My Thoughts
I am so in love with this story. The story and characters are amazing. It kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time. Amanda had a rough child hood. After losing her brother AJ her life was foster  home after foster home. In her heart she always new a part of her heart was missing. She never talked about her past even with her closest friends. The day her life changed she relived the day her bother died and the last words he told her. If your in trouble go to Carter Reed. He will help you. When she found Carter Reed her life changed and she also found the missing part of her heart. This is were the roller coaster ride begin. It is exciting, Heart Breaking and dangerous. But in the end its all worth it. This story is a must read!!!!!

About The Author

I’ve always been an avid reader. Majoring in English Literature was a no brainer. Becoming a teacher and instilling my love for reading into my students was also a no brainer. I’ve spent the last ten years teaching and I’ve loved (mostly) every minute of it. When I was home on maternity leave for my third son, I discovered a new genre that sparked my creativity. My passion for writing sprang from my love of reading and once I knew I had a story to tell, I couldn’t wait to get it out there. I only hope that my readers enjoy reading my story as much as I enjoyed writing.

My Thoughts
Melissa has out done herself. The sex scenes are swoon worthy and Hot as hell. I have just fallen in love with this magical couple. Reid says the sweetest things and then with a flip of a switch he turns all hot and sexy. Reid has to over some so much from his past that it rips you heart out.  Maddy has a few inner struggles but she is a strong and soooo in love with Reid. They are true soul mates. They complete each other. This is a must read series.
